Socio-environmental problematic in the Texcoco river basin. A literature review
Abstract
The Texcoco River Basin has been widely studied due to its
nearness to important learning and research centers. This article
has the objective of reviewing the relevant literature, analyzing
primarily two communities: San Diego Tlaylotlacán and San Pablo
Ixáyoc. Among the problems found, there are the following: urban
growth, which has brought with it the suspension of agricultural
and forestry practices, as well as changes in the occupational
structure; modernization of agriculture through the use of agrochemicals;
deterioration of soils and increase in water demand.
It is concluded that in order to resolve some of these problems, it
is necessary to revisit inter-disciplinary approaches and involve
inhabitants of the area in the research processes.
