Abstract

The concept of traditional family is insufficient to account for the
specific dynamics of families in rural areas, and specifically for
indigenous domestic groups. However, based on a research work
on identity and cultural changes in the community of San Antonio
Pueblo Nuevo, in this article we present a general view of the
domestic unit and family relations that are generated inside them
as a result of high temporary and definitive migration that
distinguishes the inhabitants of this region. We are based on
some statistical data about the homes with female heads of
households and in the information obtained in the community
through a questionnaire and some interviews carried out in situ
to describe the role of women in this situation.
