Abstract
The rural topic, perceived as the scenario for applying diverse policies and the terrain for interaction of various social actors, brings up a complex situation that attempts to be systematized and actualized by the coordinator of Volume 11 of the 16 that make up the work “The great problems in Méxicoâ€, at the beginning of the 21st Century, with the aim of contributing to the knowledge of Mexican society and its problems, at a time when the bicentennial of the Independence and a century since the Mexican Revolution are being commemorated.
The book includes a general introduction that presents elements from each of the five chapters in the book, which jointly provide a general panorama of some of the most important points of the so-called rural economy, that is: public policies and structural change, rights of land ownership, use and degradation of land, rural migration, and identification of the determinants in inter-state migration.
