The objective of this research study was to explain sustainability in business theoretically, to compare corporate reasons to adopt the sustainable business model, as well as to examine and classify businesses in the province of Catalonia (Spain), based on a series of elements to find similarities between them. The research is exploratory; 32 surveys were obtained from high executives and three groups were identified through conglomerate analysis. Evidence indicates that an attitude towards sustainability in business is being implemented in the smaller group (Advanced motive). In the largest, there are those businesses that still have the vision of only maximizing shareholders’ benefits (Basic motive). The study allowed understanding the classification of attitudes of high directives regarding the application of the sustainable business model to evaluate its benefits.
